Learning the Bigfoot Lingo

I’ve learned that every profession or hobby has a few important words or catch phrases you need to know. The Bigfoot community is no different it seems. As the newbie here I had to quickly learn what those words and phrases were to be able to relate to everyone.

                   

Some words were easy like blobsquatch which meant blurry.  With the overwhelming amount of  blurry pictures circulating, there was obviously a need for a special word. Then there were  words like my favorite paradolia which I wrote about last week. Such a great word it had to have its own post and I had to actually look up. I can say I honestly hadn't  heard it before  I immersed myself in all this Bigfootery. (My new slang word, don’t steal it I copyrighted it)

So I figured if I had to get caught up in the language of cryptozoology, some of you may need to also. So, I made a list of a few of the most frequently used words and broke them down for you. Are you ready? Get a highlighter, pen and paper together now because here they are, in no particular order:

  • Squatching - the act of traipsing around in the forest, looking for Bigfoot, while he sits comfy up in a tree laughing at us. Occasionally throwing rocks and sticks at us for fun.
  • Bigfooting, slang for Squatching so see above 
  • Knocking - sounds Bigfoot makes while banging a tree with a stick, calling to similar individuals to come get the dumb Homo sapiens.
  • Casting -  when you make a plaster of paris, or if you are me a paper mache mold of the big guys prints. Or a bears, lots of bear prints hanging around.
  • Researching -  see also Squatching, then adding in maps, eyewitnesses and  BFRO reports. 
  • BFRO - an organization you can report an encounter to, but who generally won’t share where that encounter took place to any other researcher , so they don’t “contaminate” the scene.
  • Encounter - when you’ve had that holy s**t moment and saw a Bigfoot with your own eyes. A non-probing encounter, (aliens are just rude) in fact, Bigfoot may not even know you saw him, and probably doesn’t care that you did.

  • Visits -  as opposed to the alien jerks probing visitations - the Squatch visits, are when it frequents the same spot, that you may or may not be gifting to. I’ve heard that peanut butter and chocolate are a good way to start if you’re planning on gifting. Also, visits may include visits to your home, to have breakfast and coffee with. (I’m trying to stay open to this particular possibility but somedays it s really freakin hard) 
  • Hide n seek - a children’s game where one of you are hiding and another one is seeking. Got it, because it’s an easy one. And if you’ve never played..well then, in my opinion you were lucky, because when it’s your turn to seek, it sucks. And unfortunately if you didn’t like it, it’s to bad because this is the game you are now playing for life, while searching for Bigfoot. After all, he is the hide and seek champion.
  • Interdimensional - well...I’m open to all possibilities. This word means that Bigfoot, lives in a dimension that coexists separately but alongside ours, and he can come in and out between dimensions. Which makes playing hide and seek with him even suckier because you never get to hide. As far as he’s concerned you are already hiding, he’s just not going to look for you..
  • Cryptozoology - the study of Bigfoot and other hidden creatures. 
  • Cryptids - the hidden creatures themselves that haven’t been proven yet to the science community and world at large. Creatures such as Nessie, Wendigo, Sasquatch, Dogman etc. 
  • Hyperbole - what some encounters of the non-probing alien reports are...an exaggeration or embellishment of a situation. Not saying the encounter didn’t happen, but that the mind will sometimes fill in some of the blanks for you. 
  • And finally, and this is key people. If you forget this rule,  pack up your tents and go home. The plural of Bigfoot is Bigfoot. The plural of Sasquatch is Sasquatch..Do not forget that..



Well, these are just a few of the words you will hear a lot and I’m totally up for a part two to further your education. Remember to always be safe out there Squatching. Don’t try any of the things I do, those should only be done by a professional non professional..

Booger Funnels...

A Moment with a Monster
